lots of changing narratives in crypto compared to a few months back

so what has changed recently?
- new narratives like x402, FHE, and robotics are emerging
- evergreen ones like DeFi will always be around (same theme, new primitives)
- compared to start of the year, memecoins have cooled off - it's now being replaced by functional launchpads like pumpfun that has actual business model and fundamentals
- RWAs mindshare is climbing
and if you zoom out - AI narrative comes back almost every year in a different form
- last year it was the agentic meta (ai agents, speculative agents, trading agents)
- and this year, it's re-emerging as x402-style micropayments - but underlying it is the same / similar foundation
increasingly, i think there are two frameworks for tokens in crypto
- pure narrative/ speculative plays - driven purely by attention and how hot a narrative is, but these will rotate pretty quickly
- and then a focus on real businesses/ revenue-generating protocols with a focus of capturing users, volume, fees
- and some protocols that have an overlap of both
