Last week I had the pleasure of attending two events in Melbourne hosted by @SwyftxAU The first was a partnership with Totality, a tradfi trading house that deals with everything but crypto. The second was an exclusive event for Swyftx VIPs. I spoke on a panel at both and we got audience questions, and then I chatted with a bunch of the people afterwards. Some takeaways - Tradfi is very interested in crypto, and there is a lot of crypto curiosity out there - A lot of them are not yet invested, yet seem to find the idea of 2-5% of their portfolio being in crypto a sensible idea - People are asking their financial advisors for advice on crypto, but they're not (yet) allowed to give them crypto advice. Hopefully this legislation changes soon, and will likely unlock more capital to flow to crypto assets - The XRP army is REAL. Met several people who only owned XRP, and it was the only crypto token they followed - CT is an enormous bubble. Hundreds of people there and i'd be surprised if more than a dozen of them knew cobie, ansem, icobeast, threadguy, etc etc - As an extension of that, most people don't know about most of the tokens we talk about, even the big ones like HYPE and TAO, and definitely not the more niche ones like REKT, PENGU, PUNKSTR, etc - The changes in the last couple of years legitimizing crypto seems to have had a big impact in the mindset of people, with several telling me that it's been a turning point from writing off crypto to thinking it's worth paying attention to after the EFTs and regulatory changes etc - People genuinely want to learn more. Most of us degens are just here to speculate, but the more sensible and pragmatic investor who is considering allocating 2-5% to Bitcoin (or whatever crypto asset) wants to understand the value proposition and feel good about it, beyond just narratives and hopium All in all, a great time. These are the kind of things I love doing, and it feels so much more wholesome and worthwhile to be an ambassador for a crypto exchange where I can attend events like this vs some of the other offers i've had over the years where they just want me to shill things online Cheers Swyftx & the Melbourne crypto community 🫡
